The Process Through Which Safeguard Clothing Are Made

By Frank Patterson

We live in a world that is truly unsafe. Gun violence has become very common in the society today, and not even the law can assure us of our safety. This is why many civilians have opted to suit up in safeguard clothing. You may not have known this but some places are so unsafe, and bullet proof clothing is allowed. This does not mean you should walk into dangerous situations as you may steal get hurt.

You may wonder how these bullet proof clothes are made and this article explains a bit of it. The manufacturers produce fiber or filament that is light but at the same time strong. They can use either Dyneema or Kevlar. They are the most common ones. Kevlar is used by spinning a solid thread from a liquid chemical blend. Dyneema, on the other hand, is formed by a gel-spinning process which means a lot of strength combined with softness.

The material is then woven into yarn and cords. Yarn is a strong and continuous fiber that is used to form fabrics. The material is made into the many different colors we know bullet proof attire to be. For a civilian, this gives them a wide range of option and for the authorities, they can get to pick a color that is similar to their uniform.

They then proceed to weave the cord and the yarn together in order be able to come up with a uniform fabric. This fabric appears to be a large piece of material. It actually appears like the fabric that is used by tailors in making clothes. These materials are then taken to the factory to begin the process of making the vests after the overall checking their qualities.

The material is not cut with scissors in case you are wondering. There are special machines used to cut multiple materials at the same time and into different sizes. A wide variety of test is done in order to determine the proper thickness of the ballistic material. The thickness of the material, in the end, depends entirely on what the manufacturer was trying to achieve.

The cut up material is assembled in a way to form ballistic panels. A number of the cut up materials are placed on top of each other until the thickness required is accomplished. Layers of Kevlar are stitched together in order to form these panels. Different vests have different thicknesses depending on who they are made for.

After the assembling of the material, there needs to be a protective cover. This is like your phone having a screen protector to prevent it from breaking. The cover can be heat sealed as a way of protecting the ballistic material inside. This is mainly from humidity and water. The cover is what makes the vest have its bullet proof qualities.

Finally, there is a ballistic cover carrier. It actually has pockets in which ballistic panels are inserted and are able to hold positions on to the physique of the person clothing it. It is actually possible to increase the number of pockets in the coat or jacket, and that is basically how a simple bullet proof vest is made.
