The Best Facial Exercises For Eyes

By Ines Flores

Aging is something that all people experience and as they age their skin loses some of the elasticity that helps to keep it smooth and wrinkle free. The area around the eye is generally the first place that wrinkles appear. Those who can afford it sometimes resort to cosmetic surgery as an expedient way to resolve this problem while using facial exercises for eyes is far more cost effective and works comparably well when done properly.

Wrinkling in this area can be caused by several things that people do without thinking about them. Squinting in the sun or when reading is one way to get them. Other activities include smoking or spending too much time in the sun either while working or when playing. People who have lighter complexions are also more apt to develop eye wrinkling at a young age because their skin does not contain pigmentation that protects them from harmful UV rays from the sun.

Exercising the muscles in your face may prove difficult because it is not something that is customarily practiced by most people. Training yourself to do these eye aerobics daily can prevent the appearance of crows feet and droopy lids and help you maintain a youthful glow for your entire face. They should be practiced twice daily and to ensure proper manipulation of your skin a mirror should be used.

When you begin these practices it is important to remember to moisturize the eye area first. This skin is very delicate and can be easily damaged when rubbed too vigorously. Rough treatment can also cause more wrinkling to appear after you have finished working on this area. Knowing how to administer the proper techniques on moisturized skin takes practiced skill. It has been suggested that plain water will work in place of moisturizers when necessary.

Eye tapping is one form of exercising this area. This exercise helps to reduce puffiness around the eye by stimulating blood flow to the area. Using the pad of your fingers begin tapping in the corner of your eye nearest the nose. Gently tap the area just under the eye working to the outer edge near the temple and back again five to ten times for each eye.

For tension relief in the face and eye area there is a specific exercise available. Simply use two fingers to gently pinch up the skin around the brow and gently roll the two sides together to ease tension and stress. Another simple practice used for diminishing wrinkles is to place the index fingers of both hands on either side of a line and gently apply pressure for a count of ten. Repeat this action twice daily in sets of ten and you should notice improvement of lines treated.

The trickiest exercise to perform affects the under-eye muscles on your face. Keeping these muscles strong will greatly enhance a youthful appearance. This exercise should be practiced in front of a mirror to ensure effectiveness. Look into the mirror and slowly attempt to lift your eyelids in a series of small steps. When you begin try to achieve three steps while working to advance to a total of five movements. This process takes a mind set of determination, strength, and concentration to accomplish but will be worth it in long term appearance improvement.

All exercise programs take time to show results and these are no different but if you are diligent and continue doing them daily the long term results may combat obvious signs of aging and save money spent on unnecessary surgeries and expensive treatments.
